Japanese multinational corporation Honda Motor Co., Ltd founded in 1948. The company has been the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world since 1959, as well as the world's largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines. In 2001, Honda became the second largest Japanese car manufacturer. In 2015, Honda was the eighth largest car manufacturer in the world. Honda was the first Japanese car manufacturer to launch a special luxury brand, Acura, in 1986. In addition to the main automobile and motorcycle business, Honda also produces garden equipment, boat engines, jet skis and generators, as well as other products. Since 1986, Honda has been engaged in research in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics and in 2000 released its ASIMO robot. It also has a subsidiary in the aerospace industry, GE Honda Aero Engines, founded in 2004. Honda has three joint ventures in China: Honda China, Dongfeng Honda and Guangqi Honda.
